Hi Sylvain....Great work, awesome images. How are you importing your images into your S4100? Does it take the files flawlessly (I believe it MPEG4, right?). I know there are some issues getting it to FCP without loading the plug-in. Do you just import it through a card reader? I have not shot video in DSLR before, but thinking of getting the entry level Canon TSi. I have not heard any negative feedbacks about the camera in blogs and forums, and there is a slew of You-Tube and Vimeo samples of it's images with impressive results. Maybe I'll try the look and feel of a DSLR first, going through the route of the TSi before investing in the higher end 7D/5D Mark II gear like yours.

Any insight to your Macrosystem-related workflow is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Thank you Eric for the kind words... I had to relearn how to do everything I use to do with conventional video cameras but it was worth it !!!
I import the files through a card reader... they are H264/MPEG 4 I believe (Im not to good with the tech stuff when it comes to codecs etc Lou Bruno is the man !! )
I use HD Backup & I also back up the RAW files on my MAC.
What I have seen from the T2i on Vimeo is awesome I also saw some footage compared with a 7d and I cant tell the difference.

Here is a review:

I think its a great way to start Eric & if you decide to go that route I am available to help you with all the gear available out there & what I use and
have been successful with...

Cheers,

Syl

Wedding video recap of Shabnam & Pravin's on August 21st, 2010. I seldom meet individuals that are so passionate about
life, love & friendship like this couple is.
It was important for Pravin that I open this video with the poem he delivered to his new bride during the reception.

What size memory card do you use to fill-up a typical 4-5 wedding job?

I have 3 SLR's & I use 2 32GB cards for each camera. Each card can record about 1 1/2hrs (in 1080p/30p)
I have an 8GB card for my Zoom H4n and it can record over 6hrs of quality audio.
(I have Rodes mics plugged into each cam but use the Zoom quality for the church and reception speeches etc)

The BBC approves the 5DmkII for 100% acquisition for an HD show. This is huge.

...I know it doesn't look like a video camera :p

Your right...it is huge! The BBC also OK'ed the new Canon XF300/305 for footage submital as well a few weeks ago. The next camera in line in the list is the SONY PDW-700 at around 25K+, compare that to the sub 7K Canon and its pretty mind blowing. Canon's new models are really starting to take a large bite out of the EX series and the Upper end Panasonic's with P2 cards. I cant wait to get one of the 5d MK II's. Your video's look amazing! And with a price of $2500.00 it seems like you cant go wrong. However...I'm sure that all of the cool acc. and the rest of the rig bring you right back up into the 5-6K range. Do you an HDMI monitor on your rig or just an LCD magnifier? Thanks for the great links and cool video's.
