Here is a link to info on the new Canon XA10. Looks like a great little single chipper. I can't wait to get one in the office to play with. Also....we should have them in stock in April, and the XF100's should hit the door late this month.

Have you tested this cam yet, I am looking for a replacement for my Canon XM1, it is time for me to go HD.

I am not a professional, but an enthusiastic amateur. The XA10 seems to be a great semi pro cam, the only thing I don’t like is the single chip.

Would like your or anyone else’s opinion please.

Just an update on my search for a new HD camcorder.

After a lot of help from Lou, on the UK Cassie forum and with input from Martyn and James Dukas, I have just bought the Canon XF-100. Thank you to all those that helped me come to this decision.

Lou, apart from your logical arguments for the FX-100 v the XA10, your clip of the air force display helped a lot in my decision. Having said that, it was obviously taken in the US, we don’t often get clear blue skies like that over here.

I have also purchased an S6000, so cannot wait to get going with HD. Mind you I am totally bankrupt now.

IAN, When you are ready, I have some EXCELLENT personal profiles I can send you that really make this camera display beautiful scenes. Meanwhile, do not use the default setting or the auto mode/auto AGC.
Go to your picture profile and increase the color gain (for now) located in the color matrix setting to 20 and the R-B to 25.
