s6000

Post by jeffphilips »

I am looking for honest opinions. I just received the march madness sales on the s6000. I am currently using the rene+. If I upgrade to the 6000, will I be blown away with what it does compared to the rene? This form has made me very skeptical about purchasing any new machines from MS.
Anyone that has the 6000, please let me know what you think.
Thank you!

Hi Jeff,
I don't own a S6000 but the S-4100 a.k.a Generation III machine capable of editing HD footage a lot faster than with Generation II
...I had a Prestige & don't regret my upgrade since tapeless HD workflow is important to me & Gen II cannot offer that.
So if High Definition is not a concern I would ask you is the extra $ worth a machine that will just render SD editing faster?
If HD is a must for you now then I say Yes the upgrade is a must if you prefer the MS interface as I do :)

Good Luck

Good point Sly, as I have not upgraded to HD yet. But I cannot afford to do all the upgrades all at once. Not sure if the camera should be my first choice or the editing system. With the way the cameras are changing almost weekly, my thought is that the editing system would be a good first step.

Hi Jeff
I would also compare the two models with what you require, is the extra for the S6000 really worth it, IMHO the LCD monitor on the front is as much use as a chocolate teapot. Larger h/d can be overcome by the purchase of Store n Share software and ex h/d,why have all your eggs in one basket? So your down to speed is the extra worth it.
Just my 2p

Hello Jeff !!

I have the S6000 since January, I feel much more stable than the s-4000 pro
I had bad experience with this editor, my new S6000 is faster and STABLE
only has HDMI output, connect it directly to my sony lcd tv and the picture in HDV
is amazing, in DSLR also, the only thing that 60i is no longer seen as
in my old s-pro4000, that looked more video now looks as if
in progressive all the time, it takes time to adjust to your eyes!... ;)

Hello Everyone,

If comparing the 3000 to the 6000 remember that the 3000 does not come with the Pro Pack. You have to add that and the Blu-ray burner. So with the added memory and HD size and the pro pack and burner included, there isn't so much difference between them.

We had the new models displayed at the MGT and they are fast. The power supply is out side the case now, that's one reason why both machines are smaller than the 4100 and they sure are nice looking. Justin was here and did a great job of showing us the new equipment. He also mentioned some of the items that are in pipeline. The one that we are really excited about is the fact that Arabesk 5 is in the works and will have Blu-Ray menus. Bogart 4 is being beta tested right now. He showed it to us and it is amazing.
