i have a s4000pro and have had trouble editing hd footage when it is in the 24p format.it looks jerky etc. has anyone else had that problem, maybe it's something i'm doing wrong. i'm downloading via firewire. if the camera has 60 frames, would it be better and easier to use 60 instead of 24.

You need to shoot at a higher frame rate than 24p or 60 interlaced. Run a couple tests at different frame rates to find out which one works best for HD. Caution faster shutter means you need more light - dust off that trusty old light meter!
