DVD to MPEG File

Post by HowardB »

Hoping that someone can tell me the best way to convert a DVD that was burned on my Renommee to an MPEG file that can be emailed.
Also, must this conversion take place in real time or is there a faster method?

Thanks

Howard,

A DVD is an MPEG2 file and an MPEG file is even further compressed which will degrade the video quality considerably more, but will make it easier to e-mail as it will be smaller.

I would prefer to compress from the original DV AVI quality level straight to MPEG to reduce artifacting from multiple compression scheme processing, but either way this would have to be done on a PC or Mac with additional software.

This is not easily described in a step by step method as it depends on the software used and there are tons of software choices out there.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
