Key Board Not Recognized

Hi Guys..Love the new Forum. I did a full re-insatll of my OS and now my keyboard is not recognized. Is there a software or settign I have to do??I unplugged it and I see a light on the numbers lock but it does not work on my Prestige.

If you're getting a light that's encouraging, but not responding, hmm... You could power off, unplug, replug (perhaps to a different USB port), try another keyboard. If this happened immediately after your full-reinstall, I wonder if your install has a corruption. You could do another full install if all else fails. Just might be the install itself. Good luck!

Do you have any other device or cable plugged into a USB port?

My Macrosystems keyboard 'shut down' also, after installing OS 7, it was not working at all, and when using the mouse, the screen would only 'blink' quickly. Search the FAQ, and saw the blinking might be a keyboard problem, switched to an old keyboard laying around and that one works, and no more blinking, but the Macrosystems keyboard will not work....

I will try all of the recommendations above. I have a usb cable to connect my flash cards to and the mouse. that is all.

Yes, try disconnecting all the USB connections and then connect them back in testing each for function as you do it.

Start with the keyboard and if it does not work, try a power cycle (off/on) and check it again as well as try a different USB port.

I have the Macrosystem keyboard and it works fine with my Solitaire and SE7.

Pat,

If you have the power keyboard set up, try going back into your system settings and be sure that after you re-installed the OS and your other software, that you didnt forget to activate the Power Keyboard Software.

I am an idiot!!!! Thank you bob Naughton. That is exactly what I did. I did not install power key. That is why I could type in Titling but not recognize the smart keys. Thank you for all of your help guys...Once again, one of the most helpful groups of people I have ever found...RIGHT HERE!!!!!!

Don't be too hard on yourself. Last night I exported a HDV project to one of my HDV decks. I couldn't get any sound from the deck but the sound was available in my storyboard. So I made a scene sample, rendered the ENTIRE storyboard again in the finish window and still had no audio.
So, after pulling what's left of my hair, I worked on the project AGAIN thinking that something was corrupt.THEN.... I realized that I forgot to push an audio switch on my selector box from the beginning. So we all make mistakes.....some not as bad as others.

Glad to have helped. Like Lou said, we often overlook something obvious. The reason I suspected it might be the activation of the power key software is not due to my extensive prowess in things Casablanca. I just remembered having the same problem because I also forgot to activate it. I do wish there was a feature that when you do re-install your software after an OS Install, you could press a button marked "Install all Optional Software" Then everthing that you have a license for would activate immediatly instead of doing them one at a time.
