Solitare Plus help!

Post by dvss4u »

Hello, I acquired 2 Solitaire Plus units recently, both have OS9, and I'm trying to revive them. I know how to check the Bios, and reset the Boot Order,
1. but I'm not sure the order. Also 2. when installing a new HDD do I need to create a ISO CD or data CD? and 3. do I need to have separate CDs for the All Software?
both units just come.up to the Solitaire screen and freeze. I also have 2 monitors hooked up incase they are in dual screen mode. any help will be greatly appreciated. I am working on them May 19th thru 23rd 2021. you can call me at
417-593-1052 Doug

also... regarding the Hard drive PIN locator positions for the internal HDD and each of the HDDs on Sleds?
this is what I recall...by looking at each HDD information sticker...
Master... usually far left
Slave... leave OFF
Cable Select... usually 2nd or 3rd set from left

But keep in mind this is the first time I've owned a Solitaire and I'm trying to figure out why the unit has 2 Sleds, and are they both recognized as Masters? or is there a Cable.Selection in the OS?

For SmartEdit Solitaire/Renommee/Claro:
  1. Pioneer DVD-RW
  2. Casablanca BEV
  3. Hard-drive

  • If you have a "SmartEdit 9.1 BootCD.iso" image on the PC, right click it and use "Burn disc image" or 3rd party software like "ImgBurn"(.com)
  • If you take a look at the burned disc, you should see the folder [BOOT] and the files: boot.cat, insep91r.hpc and system.cry

You need 1x SmartEdit Boot-CD (or SmartMedia card) and 1x add-on software CD for Arabesk, FX packages...

Greetings from Austria!

Thanks for the reply, I will try that Boot Order.

Do you know anything regarding the Hard drive PIN locator positions for the internal HDD and each of the HDDs on Sleds?
this is what I recall...by looking at each HDD information sticker...

Slave... leave OFF
Cable Select... usually 2nd or 3rd set from left

  • Since Solitaire with SmartEdit can use two hard-drives, inserted at the same time and having different positions, you need to set the jumper to "Cable-Select" (CS).
  • How to do that can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer :!: But Master / Slave / Cable-Select is usually printed somewhere on the upper side of the drive - or you will need to enter the model number into the Google search to find a manual.
 Don't ruin your drive by experimenting with the jumpers :!:
