video promos

I have been asked to do a video promo of a band.can anyone give me ideas of how to go about it not only in filming but setting it out on the casablanca prestige editing board and syncing with music from various scenes ie pan,short ,long and close up shots so that the music is in sync with all scenes??.Thankyou.Martin
