Bogart has reverted to an older version

Hello, I went to use Bogart today and when it opened it wanted me to register the product. It gave me a serial number to note down. I was running Version 12.9 but this was version 6.6 I believe. It wanted me to enter the code to activate version 12. Which after it restarted, I did. Where I have my code written down I also I have the serial number. Not only did my version 12 code not work, the serial number listed was wrong. So I couldn't activate version 12. Also all of my software was hidden in the install product menu, as if I was going to have to re install everything and enter all my codes. Why would this happen? What is going on? What is the fix? I did try a system recovery that was 4 days old but that did nothing. Thank you.

Since 2018, all BogartSE installation ZIP downloads include the PDF to backup and restore the serial number, because big Windows operating system updates or small hardware-changes can trigger the MacroSystem copy protection

All BogartSE fans registered to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agency Newsletter got 2x warnings (this and that) last year to backup the serial number and licenses.

• If you followed those instructions and have this SN backup code, just use the "Install products / (S) / [Enter code after]" button to get your serial number back, activating all licenses again.
• If you did not follow the file "IMPORTANT HINTS to Bogart Windows", you need to buy a license transfer from your reseller. You will need to generate a backup code now and submit the old SN, the new SN and it's backup code to the reseller. He will then order new codes for the new serial number and you can restore the new SN (with the now generated code) next time Windows messes around with the hardware identification.

Michael, I sent you an email regarding this today. You say in your response here, that I need to "generate a new back up code". If that is still true after reading my email, how do I generate a new back up code? Is that by clicking on show code before? Is that what I should have done originally when I installed Bogart 12? If so, I was not clear on that back then. And I'm not subscribed to your newsletter. But it does seem like my dealer should have known and would have warned me about it, when I bought Bogart 12. He is unsure what I should do, other than ask you. Thanks

Also, when this all started I did send screenshots of the "show code before" along with my previous recovery codes, the old serial number and the new one to Chuck Owens. He then took it from there and contacted Gary. Thanks.

I don't see any eMail, neither on my shield-agency.at addresses - nor the forum@macrosystem.at address.

Independent of hints your reseller might give or not, the ZIP files (since 2018!) for the BogartSE Windows installation contain the file

• !EN - IMPORTANT HINTS to Bogart Windows.pdf

The information there is very clear.

• If completely new codes for all products must be created, because the serial number has not been secured, this
  task would be charged with a flat rate of 99 Euros, according to the price list of the MacroMotion GmbH!

I have 2 recovery codes that I backed up over the years.

told me to send him my old serial number, my new serial number, along with my recovery codes.

I got a response from him that either one of the 2 codes I had should bring back my original serial number.

Feel free to send me the old+new SN and the two codes you have, so I can verify them. If at least one of the codes is correct for the OLD serial number, this can be used to restore it on the same hardware. Since 2016 this has never been a problem.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Agency remote access granted, BogartSE started, SN backup codes pasted from clipboard, accepted - and all is active again.

I don't know what had been the problem - but solved within ~1 minute
