Tip:

I have created a centralized thread for questions people want asked at the convention and that will be the only thread I will be printing out to take with me Monday morning so I would post any questions you have on that thread.

Here's the answer about CBPaint.....sort of
A couple of us sat down with Jorge last night and I asked him straight up about the future of CB Paint on the S-4000's. He did not say it would never be developed. But what he did say was that TV Paint (the makers of CB Paint) is having its own internal problems and litigation and that CB Paint was never a profitable venture for TV Paint or for Macrosystem.

So I think my first post on this subject was pretty accurate. I dont think we will see it.

Thank you so much for getting this answer for us. I do hope that Cb Paint 2 is not forgotten. I rather enjoyed using it on my Prestige, Reno Plus and I hoped the S-4000 Pro.

My take on thi was the third party does not ge much revenue from a software that is just a rewrite which makes it an incredible low priority for that company.

And on top of that CB Paint was never very popular (volume purchasing wise) so it is not a top priority for MSDE/MSUS either.

I personally, would recommend any communication/petitioning you do be directly to the TV Paint company regarding getting a Linux based version for most effective results.

After reading the outcome of talks about CBPaint2 release for S-4000 I must say it's not our problem activating the TV-Paint company to please
re-write CBPaint2 for Linux BogartSE.
MS/DE must clearly say there won't be CBPaint in BogartSE because they won't invest.
Since then we can't use this program anymore with S-4000 there has to be a refund by MS/DE for those having spend a lot of money for CBPaint?

The intent IS to update this for use with the new Linux system (Bogart), but we are talking about two relatively small companies (MSUS and TV Paint) which means limited resources and therefore prioritized work.

Obviously, they only can continue to fix, update and such IF they are still in business so prioritizing is just a part of business and certainlyy they must do what brings in the most money first so they are still around to do the rest.

Thus, I don't see CB Paint rewrite for Bogart being a high priority for either company.

That does NOT mean there is no intent to bring it to Bogart, but is simply is not likely to be near the top of the list of "things to do".

This is npleasant for CB Paint users, but it's also a reality so I personally would not recommend a S4P if you need CB Paint until it is actually available for the new units.
