Western Digital Hardrive can we use them

Has anyone used the Western Digital in Prestige caddy or Avio as a Hardrive, Will this work in this Editors.

Short answer is no. I tried one with my Kron awhile back and it wouldn't work. I was told by tech support to stick with Hitachi, Seagate or Maxtor.

Last I knew from the disfunctional old MSUS website they still were recommending against WD drives which is kind of ironic as that is what the terrabyte drive is in my S4000Pro.

Perhaps that is the problem.

I just ordered a Maxtor 160gb from Neweeg that was the larges they had of the Seagate/Maxtor Drive.
I do remember that some people had problems with WD.
Again thanks its good to be able to have other opinion.

Having fitted 100's of hard drives into various Casablancas over the years I have found Seagate/Maxtor to be the most reliable. Most problems found with Hitachi (250gb) and laterly Samsung (300 gb). I have avoided Western Digital as advised by MS. I did hear a rumour that they are subject to over heating. I have found a few already fitted (and working ok) in machines coming in and was surprised that they felt lighter in weight compared to other brands. So maybe heat dissipation could be a problem if they use more plastic internally. However, Tim is correct in saying that the S4000 Pro does use a WD 1TB SATA drive ...... which doesn't seem to get very hot
