Need help in choosing a mic

I use the same mic but only use it during the ceremony. I use a sony wireless mic system during the dancing at weddings and also place it close to one of the DJ speakers but I always have to adjust the mic volume on my Z1 manually as it is usually way too loud to record as it is. If I leave the sound on my camera on auto it will be too loud to handle. (found that out on my first job with that camera ) I found the senheiser better than the sony as the sony has a little zzzz sound on it when people start speaking that is not good during a quiet ceremony.

Great I could help you with that and I think it is the best mic out there. The best thing of those mics is that you can adjust the level of sensitivity of the mic Eg; if you are near a beach and you don't want to hear the waves you can set it on to just pick up your voice and not the waves. If you are on a wedding ceremony you can set it to pick the sounds up from groom,bride and minister otherwise you will never pick up the vows when you hook hte goom up with one.

What I do at ceremonies is ask the dj if I can plug my senn into one of their outputs using the senn butt plug. This way I get a nice clean signal on one channel. I put a wireless on my camera to pick up the ambient sounds as I travel around the room on the other channel,. I then mix the levels in post if I don't get it right onsite at the reception.
