Dang... leave you all alone for a day and look what you can do! Well done... I am impressed.

Jim, thanks for the thoughts/suggestions -- by the blue tone being too light, do you mean the subject heading (not the main header, right?).

And as for people posting their own pics I wrestled with this a little bit but decided against it initially (this message board calls that an avatar). I like the idea somewhat but the 2 reasons I am continue to think about disallowing it are
1. I dont' want anyone to feel they have to provide a snappy pic of themself or come up with a possibly contrived image just to 'fit in'.

2. I have visited some boards and these avatars take way too much real estate up, to me distracting away from the conversation going on --

Maybe I am way too much old school on both these items, I am happy to entertain some healthy dialog here about this....
Oh ya - about uploading images (that are not on a website the issue there can become bandwidth/space in a very short order with some folks possibly uploading some very large images -- yikes!). So at least this provides the means for someone to share images, screenshots, etc. You could even upload your pic/image to a public, free website and point to that!

Thanks again for the helpful chat folks!

Regards,
Chet

Chet

Hello Everyone,

I'm going to try the image thing again

Image

I'm getting the picture of the new S 4000 Pro now.
Now let's see what happens, Hey....it worked.

This new forum is really going to be nice.

It'll be even nicer if all the new folks remember to register their real names, including the last name. This is a family of friends here and we do not need to hide behind handles or just first names. We all want to know everyone as if we were a family, because we have become one over the years.

Jim
I'm just trying the image thing again
Image

I'm not sure if this is the right way or the only way, but I right clicked the image, selected "Properties" from the drop down box, and then highlighted and copied the URL from the properties box. Finally back on this page I just pasted the copy in the centre of the "img" brackets.

PS. I also like the preview option, you can look at the final version before submitting, ideal for those completer / finisher types.

Another way to do it is to click on URL and paste your URL inbetween them. Then if a reader clicks on the image itself, it will take them to that website. In my case if you click on my small motorcycle picture in my previous post it will take you to a larger version of the picture and access to that whole album in Webshots. 8-)

Now that Lord Sherrington is on, I feel like we're getting somewhere! ;)

Regarding Spell Checker, I can appreciate that desire/request but it's not available for this app. If it brings you any solace, take comfort in the fact that the genius we know as Albert Einstein is reputed to have been a very poor speller and educational researchers have verified that spelling is not a link with/to intelligence :)

No, you cannot upload to this site, but you can use any thing hosted by a website, per Ian's swiping from the MS DE site. ;)

I definitely like the ability to add bold, Smilies, images, etc where you want them directly when you wish to make changes later rather than they defaulting to the end of the body of the post and having to use cut and paste every time.

I don't know what it's like where you live,
but around here today
it's been

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
