Alex,
We are currently offering the LaCie Poulton model in a 750gb and 1TB models. These both work excellent with the Casablanca. Be sure whichever you use is formatted to FAT 32 before using.

Dennis, I thought the ones you sold were already formatted.

Yes, theirs are, but they are not the only source of that drive which is why Dennis is cautioning to make sure the formatting is correct.

Yes, the LaCie's we sell are all formatted to Fat 32 as required. However, LaCie does not ship them as such. We connect and format the drives in our warehouse before they go out.

Just to be clear...in the first post by Dennis the way it was worded with the word "whichever" and the reference to ONLY the 750gig and 1TB that MS sells could lead someone who is not familiar with these kinds of drives or formatting to believe that these too had to be formatted. Dennis gave no mention that the HD's that they sell ARE already formatted and there was no mention that buying these HD's OUTSIDE MS would be UNFORMATTED. Many Cassie users out there dont know formatting from a hole in the ground, their still mastering the basic's. There's probably only a handful of users who have ever formatted a drive for our systems and I'm not one of them. But I do know they have to be FAT 32 formatted.

Or to be clear, when you buy from the Company or a dealer you are doing so because you want the added service of having things already set up right for you, if you want to "save money" and obtain stuff from out in the wild world of the net you should be ready to take care of yourself.

I always advise users to buy direct from MSUS or a MSUS dealer as if there is a problem it will be addressed directly by the dealer and MSUS. A perfect example was just yesterday. My son, a teacher, was doing a school project. His HD was not compatable with our units. SO, I transferred all of the files via PC onto the LaCie and it worked.
Here is another hint: The new 1T (MSUS)LaCie's have both firewire and USB. If you are an owner of the new "S"4 and an owner another Casablanca, you can import/export both units into ONE LaCie. The firewire can be connected to your other unit and the USB can be connected to the "S" model. Yes...they will work in tandem provided you shut down ONE of the units when exporting/importing out from the LaCie. ..... Like getting two drives for the price of one.
