Edit Displays

For the past several years I've been using the Renommee Plus with a two screen display. One screen is an NEC 1720M while the VGA display is an Akai 20" LCD 4:3 TV.

I'm thinking of buyting a Samsung 26" LN 26 A450 HDTV to replace the monitor and/or the VGA display.

But before committing to the HDTV, I would appreciate some advice as to whether or not the change would make a significant difference in the in SD and HDV editing as well as the use of Quadcam. While the Quadcam software has been a great help in editing dance recitals, the image size can be difficult to work with.

Currently my editing is limited to the SD format. However my Sony FX-1 and newly acquired FX-1000 are tempting me to take the HDV plunge.

Your thoughts, ideas, experiences and opinions are appreciated.

It's all dependent upon whether you have the OS to edit HD. Otherwise, stay 4:3. But, you have the resources to acquire HD, so why not! .....and even if you just render to 16x9 SD, it certainly will look better on widescreen than cropped images on a 4x3 monitor.

Hi Darrel

Going to DVI/ Hdmi display you have two setting 750i and 1080i display when you use the Quadcam in the highest resolution the prieview screens are very small. What I do is switch to 750 display when I use the Quadcam as the screens are bigger and more visable. After I competed the cuts I wanted to do I go back to the higher resolution and work on some fine tuning. I posted a Question about that on this forum a while ago and I think you should that. Don't know how Quadcam works in HDV I haven't tried it. Here is the link to it
