It sounds like several of us have been looking unsuccessfully for new 300 GB HDs.

A dealer on Ebay has new Segate and Maxtor 300GB Pata HDs. Price is $59.95 "Buy Now", plus shipping. Shipping is reduced for multiple orders. That dealer has a 99.9% rating. I haven't used Ebay much, but I did order a couple. Hopefully it is a reputable dealer. They still have a few left of each brand.

Yes, I have been watching like a hawk on EBAY as well and did successfully pick up an Hitachi 320 GB with free shipping for $45.

I need to grab one more for now so I'll have 7 sleds/drives and one more for emergency backup when one of my current 6 drives decides to fail down the road.

But... you have to be careful. Make sure your hard drives Cache is only 8MB buffer and not 16.

Thus, most all you will see are used hard drives.

The larger buffer causes great hestitation and spinning and is a pain in the butt waiting for it to catch up when you are trimming.

So 7200 RPM, 8 MB Buffer, IDE serial drive, and Seagate or Hitachi, no bigger than a 320 GB.

Hope that helps!
