I am looking for a portable hard drive to load into when my camera's HD is peaked out. I hear there is a 1 Terabyte drive on
the market, but I don't know who the sellers are. Where would I look to get one? Thanks!

Why don't you load it into your editing machine and clear the camera's hard drive. That seems to me the easiest thing to do. Make sure if you buy one you can download your footage to the portable hard drive.

I first would load the streams to a PC file.
Later when you have an external harddrive you can transfer the files to it.
Why do you want to have an external harddrive having 1TB capacity?
1 hour and 20 minutes of AVCHD footage will take only 6-8 GB of capacity of your harddrive
depending upon the used data rate.
Thus a 250 GB harddrive will save up to 25-30 hours, so there is no need to go for terrabyte capacity.
Also 250 and 300 GB harddrives are much cheaper.

If it were that simple, it would never have been asked about. Camera's output is USB, Ren's input is firewire, thus the go-between. Besides It gives me a place to unload the camera's HD during a shoot. The portable HD I am looking for is 1 TB, has been mentioned before in the forum, has a USB input, and a firewire output. I am told there is such a device. Who knows who would carry such a thing? Thanks!

Oh, I don't know Jim, I have seen some pretty simple questions out of you. :P

Seriously, I believe this (http://www.amazon.com/LaCie-FireWire-Ex ... 608&sr=1-3 is what you are looking for.

I have not personally used this model as they change them almost by the month.

Tim, that's close, but it needs to be portable, and that one doesn't look it. Thanks. Good start.

You should look at the Focus Enhancements or nNovia portable hard drives. Not a terrabyte but big enough for most jobs. Then you can download the program(s) into something else at the shop. I bought an FS4 for my Canon XH to ease the work flow. IT will be a lot more helpful when the clients migrate to HD, Good Luck

Here is your answer: The SONY HVR-MRC1 Works with ALL firewire HD cameras.
