CMOS scan bars

Post by BobFoster »

Here's something I have not read about. I decided to use my Sony Z5 camera with 3 CMOS to transfer film to DVD. For years I have used a WFM to monitor the the luminance to adjust the projector speed to prevent flicker. The out of sync shows up sooner on the WFM than is visible on the monitor. The CMOS camera displays a transparent bar moving upward on the screen (too fast) or downward (too slow) when the projector is not synced. The effect is similar to video recording of a computer screen without sync speed adjusted on the camera. The bar is much more noticeable than the slight flickering as the projector changes speed and starts with less sync difference than flickering. It is easily stopped by adjusting the projector speed, but requires closer watching. Has any one else seen this anomaly?
