How do you know if there is a new reply? on the old board a new reply was a yellow file that indicated New? beachy

Under “Topics”, there is a circle with lines inside, to the left of each topic. These are coloured red when there are posts in that topic that you have not opened. Very similar to the old site, but admittedly they are not as prominent.

And if one is color blind one can choose the View New Posts and/or View Active Posts, either of which choice is located just above the forum categories.

As Tim pointed out, you may wish to bookmark this URL
search.php?search_id=active_topics as it will show you the newly added posts and active topics in the Forum.
