For the time being, I am strictly a Standard Def man. I use a Solitaire, my cameras (a Canon XM2 and a few rather old hand-helds) are standard, and my TV was made long before HD was invented. However, I find that I need a new hand-held camera, and perhaps this might be my first, teetering step into the HD World.
Can anyone give me impartial advice on which one to buy? I have narrowed things down to the Sony HDR-HC9 and the Canon HV-30. Both are mini-tape machines (I’m not ready to give up tape yet), and I would be using them for SD capture for quite a while.
Any opinions would be gratefully received.
All the best,
Which camera?

Re: Which camera?
The HV-30 has received the BEST reviews on the internet of any small HDV camera. I own this GEM and it is nothing short of remarkable.
Go for it!!!!
