I bought a 1 TB Hitachi external HD to use with my S4000Pro, but the day it arrived, my Apple iMac 750GB Lacie Backup drive cratered, so I used the Hitachi as a sub until Lacie repaired their 750 GB HD under warranty. Today I activated HD-Backup Bogart, assuming I could use its Delete feature to delete the Apple data. That must be wrong.
I turned the Hitachi ON first & then the S4000. When I clicked on "Hard-drive backup" in System Setings, the screen went black and never came back. When I tried turning the Bogart ON first, the screen went black for 11 seconds and then the Bogart SE screen came up. The Hitachi external HD was apparently not recognized.
Any thoughts on how to delete Apple data from the Hitachi HD?
Thanks in advance,
--Frank

Hi Frank,
Why not format it on the Mac with Disk Utility - you can even select FAT 32, although I believe that Bogart HD Backup will then prompt you to re-format it using its own software . . .

Michael--
Thanks for your response. The procedure was fast and really quite simple. After a brief wait, my S4K said the backup was successful. It was so quick that I'd feel more comfortable if there was a way to verify that I actually captured something. Is there a way?

Hello Frank -- the only indicator I am aware of is the 'Backup Successful' message that comes up on screen after your archival has been completed.
You would click on the 'delete' button and it will show you the file name you have saved (as long as you quit that menu/window and don't actually delete it )
You could also connect your HDD up to your Mac (PC) and see the file sitting there -- I do not believe it would allow you to verify the contents of the actual file however, and its degree of success.
Regards,
Chet
P.S. See you tomorrow in Dallas!
