My Cassie (Prestige Plus) will not open up

Post by g4ssss »

Hey Guys,
I just turned my Cassie on, to work on a project, and I can not get beyond the opening "Casablanca-Prestige" logo.
I turned the machine off and tried to reboot....no change.
I tried leaving the machine on, for about 5 minutes, and the smart media card logo (with the arrow) started flashing in the upper left hand side of the screen.
So, I inserted the smart media card with my OS 4.2, into the machine. Then, I turned the machine off, inserted the card, and turned
the machine on again. That didn't work either
The smart media logo (with the Z Z Z s) is in the upper left hand of the screen. I can't get beyond this screen.
The small orange light, next to the green light is on.

I tried inserting a different sled/hard drive, and that project opened up.

Does anybody have any ideas on how I might save this project.....I can't think of anything else to try.....HELP !!!

Thanks for you time,

Hello Gary,

That symbol you saw on the screen usually means that the sled isn't making contact and the machine is looking for the hard drive and can't see it. It could also be a lose connection inside the machine but you said that when you switched sleds that it booted up and ran ok.....so that tells us that it's a problem with the connections on that sled and not an internal machine problem.

It could be the sled connections or the actual hard drive connection inside the sled that is not making good contact. Look over the connections and see if you can find the problem. Let us know what you find.

I would try opening both sleds, exchange the small ribbon cable between the units and see if the 'problem' moves too . . .

It is also quite likely that the hard drive has failed.

Hey Guys,
I tried everything, but this project will not open up.
I guess I'll just try replacing the hard drive.

I was checking my notes, and found that I did replace this particular drive around 5 months ago.
Maybe it was defective.
I'll check back, in case anybody has any other sugestions.

Thanks again for your assistance,
Gary
