Upgrade Help

Hi All
I am new to this site and have recently taken over a video studio using a Prestige editor. My concerns are this machine is 6 years old and has never been upgraded. Although it is fully loaded with most of the software avalible and 256mb of ram, the OS system is v.3.6a. The Arabesk is v.2.2, and DVD firmware is v.1.13. Could you tell me which new upgrades are needed to get this system up to date. Because the present OS is so old, can I just get Smart Edit 9 and this will work. The same question goes for the Arabesk and firmware upgrades. I would appreciate any help that you can give me.

Welcome to the Casablanca community!

Yes, you could update your Prestige to the (forthcoming) new OS Smart Edit 9. You are not required to make the steps in-between -- you could even do an update (I believe to SE9 from SE6) though it is _highly_ recommended to perform a clean install (destructive upgrade). This also de-fragments the HDD.

You could also graduate to Arabesk V4, which affords you more capabilities than the limitations found in Arabesk V2. As far as Firmware for your DVD drive, it depends on the model you are using -- check out this article on my website: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/articles/20090126_12

Chet, Thank you for the useful information. I have begun the task of upgrading the system. I have a better knowledge of the Prestige from reading the forum posts and the pages that you have written. I know I can count on this web site for future information in solving problems that arise.
