Video setting

Post by methuenbill »

I normally use the normal setting for video and try to keep projects to 2 hrs or less. I have a project that is 2hrs and 30 min. I have set the video to reduced quality. How does this setting compare to lp on a dvd burner which is 180 min? I

I seldom use the reduced setting, but I have never had a complaint when I have. Most people will not notice unless you place the videos side by side to compare it, then they might.

I have an easy to read 'chart' on my website (in the public area) that shows how much time you can expect with the various quality settings in Arabesk (compliments of Carroll Lam).

You can access that info here: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/articles/DVDcapacity

A lot depends on how complex and detailed the backgrounds of your shots are and the amount of motion, especially fast, active motion there is in the video and even the transitions.

You can get various increased artifacting with the lower quality (higher compression) settings.

For fairly slow or no action, uncomplicated background scenes with only cuts and simple dissolves you will be fine.

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
