while working with my s 2000 suddenly the video freezes while trimming. the system doesnt react anymore, so i had to switch the power switch off.
switching it on again you can hear the system booting up. the macro system characters on the small front display appear, and small blocks appearing show me the booting progress. the whole time no display on the the tv . suddenly the progress on the display stops and all charackters dissapear, only a white display is the left. the system doesnt react to any button at of the front panel or the trackball.
my last idea is to boot from the bogart dvd but how to open the dvd device if now button on the panel reacts ?

Pull out every wire and cable. This includes the power cable of course. Some people state that all the cables can remain except for the power cable. I found that removing ALL connections work for me better.
Let the unit stand for 2 hours-to play it safe.
Reconnect all cables etc.
Now, try to boot-up.
Luckily, on the S4000 only, to open a stuck drawer, simply press the "ESC" button on the keyboard while booting up.
CORRECTED: As TIM POINTS OUT BELOW "ESC" only works with the S4000.
Hopefully, the above will work for you. Good luck.

Re: s-2000, system doesnt boot up anymore
Mmmm, no.
Not sure if it is the DVD or CD in drawer after a crash bug or not, but if it is. . .
You can only use holding down the Esc button on the S4000/S4000Pro to force the DVD drawer to eject during power up, but Germany must have thought that too easy once it became known so the S2000 and S4100 require a much more Machevilian method of creating a USB eject flash drive and following a bunch of directions and maybe, just maybe the drawer will eject. LOL

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Re: s-2000, system doesnt boot up anymore
Wow had to do this procedure tonight and it worked !!!
was deleting projects and the hour glass was stuck so had to perform a force shut down then the system would not boot up
Thank you Tim... the key is to have a VGA monitor and I had to use arrows up & down instead of # / $
to access the USB stick and Voila !
I will keep a USB formated in case this happens again...

Happy to help Syl.
Holding down the Esc key on the S4000 is so much simpler, no idea why they made it more convoluted on the S2000 and S4100.
