Re: How are the new units?

I think John has actually put the proper question out to the BB. He wants to know the total functionality.

I can give some hints that MAY relate to BOGART.

.ALWAYS use the 1440 project mode for HDV. Using anything else increases importation time and does NOT increase quality.

.I have tried to disable the HDV "display HDV during recording" but I see NO effect in finalization of HDV tape or AVCHD. Perhaps this works in PAL. But no luck for me.

.As for the 4:22 issue..... whereas AVCHD is 4:2:2 And HDV 4:2:0 etc- I simply increase and adjust color and saturation plus lower the gamma to -2 in the CONTROL IMAGE software. This procedure is for increasing color in HDV as compared to AVCHD.

.HDV renders and imports faster than AVCHD. This also occurs in any operating system due to compression.

.Save time when using AVCHD as a project by setting your CAMERA menu to 17Mps instead of 24Mps. ARABESK is 17Mps in AVCHD anyway. This saves both importation time and ARABESK rendering time.

.Personally, forget the MOVIE MODE workaround for AVCHD to ARABESK. The time factor for rendering prohibits anyone who needs to finish a project via a deadline for payment purposes. This is not the fault of BOGART, but occurs in any operating system where an effect is added to an ENTIRE rendering HD project.

.Tape importation in HDV :Sometimes it finalizes faster than other times. No rhyme or reason. But it seems certain HDV tape cameras are different. Don't know why.

.Monitor issues...to play it safe, try to use the SINGLE DVI mode for now...the monitor issues are reported to the developers, I am told. I find that the 720P monitor mode produces less dropouts and stuttering, but these issues can be related to specific monitors. Personally, I like dual-monitor mode and I can adjust to interface computer monitor to any size I prefer. Again, this is a matter of taste and comfortability.

.I always use the 1920 X1440 project setting for AVCHD. WHY? Because ARABESK will then render faster.

.I always use the "GOOD" setting in ARABESK as PlayStation3 plays this well w/o stuttering.. However, the projects are rendering intensive-overnighters for large projects.

.If using YOU TUBE or web based internet players, then use the 1920 X 1080 for your AVCHD project but USE the HDV setting in the project archive area for faster downloads-less rendering time. However, this will be addressed in BOGART 4.0, I read.

.HDMI output in the new releases are an example of 21 century outputs-all digital with a high S/N ratio and a pristine picture. HOWEVER, if one wants to utilize their current monitor, there are HDMI to ANALOG converters on the market for less than $100 dollars. BUT, I see no reason for this as HDMI is awesome and displays the maximum quality your camera produces for playback purposes.
