Renommee Plus 500gb HARD DRVE INSTALLATION PROBLEM

I HAVE A 400gb & 300gb REMOVABLE IDE HARD DRIVES. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 500gb IDE HARD DRIVE & CONNECTED IT ONTO THE REMOVAMLE CASE.
I AM GETTING MESSAGE: THERE IS NO HARD-DISK FOUND, TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE.
INSPITE OF USING SMART EDIT V 7.0f BOOT/START DISK.
FURTHER MESSAGE:THE INSTALLATION WAS ABORTED. NO ALTERATIONS WERE MADE. PLEASE REMOVE THE CD NOW.
THE JUMPER SETTING AT REAR OF THE 500g HARD DRIVE IS THE SAME AS THE WORKING 300gb HARD DRIVE.

Assuming the drive is not faulty, either there is a problem with the caddie which you can check by installing one of your known good drives, or the jumper setting is incorrect. Don't presume it is correct because it is in the same position as the others. Some manufacturers have different locations on the pins or don't use the bridge at all. It should be in the Master position for a Renommee. Also be careful that when you look at the diagram of the jumper setting you hold the drive in the correct position.
