Reliability of S6000 & S3000...?

I've the S4000 and here in the UK i've found that certain versions of the o/s can cause problems for one and not for others,we're now up to v3.5 Bogart and i think version 4.13 of Arabesk personaly i'm on Bogart 3.2a and Arabesk 4.6 as i've found that to be the most stable version and just have the odd freeze mostly when working to fast,but put Bogart 3.2c and Arabesk 4.11 on and the air is blue.

My Kron was a book end but there are many happy users of a Kron here in the UK,not knowing the consumer laws in the USA if you go ahead and purchase a machine give it some welly for a fortnight and any problems that can't be sorted camp on your dealers doorstep and make plenty of noise till it's sorted.

One point i've picked up on this forum are your settings for each project have to be spot on, there is an article on Chets site but not sure if it's in the open area or members only.

It is a shame you have had so much crashes with you machine.
In the 10 years I have been using the Casablanca editors I have never lost
a project all together. Trust me when editing using the twister and the track ball
I move very fast as well and had some times a shut down but usually lost just a few edits.
I have found these editors very stable and couldn't have put up with editing on a PC
as mine freezes just surfing the net.All my editing is done in Pal so that might be the difference.
Hope you have more luck with the next editor.

Yes I closed my business last week when I finished my last wedding.
I took of my web site as well so just private family editing for fun from now on.

I certainly sleep a lot better with no death lines to meet or editing that had to be done.
After 8 years of trying to get this video business of the ground I have realized that
people are not prepared to pay the money we deserve in this city but on the other hand they pay
3 times as much for a so called photographer who doesn't spend as much time or money
to get there project finished. Just seeing the photographers makeing so much more money then
me has pushed me out of business just pure frustation.

I am now just concentrating on my family life and enjoy my two active but beautiful daughters.(and my wife off course)

I am glad you have the time for your family now. Thats important for sure. My youngest child is 40 now and my youngest grandchild is 15 so I don't have the little ones any more. I agree on weddings, here they would rather pay a still photographer a ton, Fortunately I do some still work as well so I get some of the money. I haven't done a wedding in probably 15 years and for that reason. I shot one one time and the couple were split up before I got paid so I never did. I think I shot one more wedding after that. I do pretty good with my racing mainly because I use the video I shoot for so many things. I did a mud race a while back, didn't sell that much but it was fun. I have a real change for me. I am shooting a video for a nursery, plant nursery, Its going to be different. I know what you mean about working a real job and then doing your video work. I did that for 15 years when I retired from my job and doing what I like to call playing all the time. Well Jeanton it is good to hear from you. Enjoy your girls and keep in touch.
