Cassie Classic info?

Post by gunterm »

Hi, I recently acquired two of these units, but there is almost no information online about them.

The SCART adapters that came with the units were damaged and I'm trying to find a pinout of the connector, according to the manual there are XLR ins and outs possible through SCART so I might be adding those while fixing it.

I did locate the v3 software manual which was a great find :)

Both units are 060, but no Firewire, is it still possible to find the module for these units cheap? Also the HD in both is a 9 GB, I'm going to try ghosting the drive to a bigger one to see if that works, otherwise is there a place to find the software install disks?

thanks in advance!

Matthew...

Hello Matthew,

For accessories, hardware, etc. for your Casablanca Classic units I recommend contacting Gary McNally at McNally's Plug and Play. You will find his website here:
http://www.mcnallysplugandplay.com/ (scroll to MacroSystem Casablanca and then scroll down to 'CASSIE CLASSIC').

The SCART - formally known as the EURO SCART, you can purchase this from Gary as well and find other variations by performing a Google search.

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Chet

Thanks for the referral Chet!

Yes Matthew, I bought the sales and service rights to the Cassie Classic from MSUS about 9 years ago, and still fully support the product line and accessories. I have tons of hardware and software. I even have external DVD-Rom LaCie Back-up drives for your project, and mirror back-up software/hardware, which allows transfer of the exact internal drive to the external drive, and visa versa. I sell the firewire two board set with a DVD video of the install procedure for $249. I have hard drive and sled combos from 9gb to 181gb ($149 to $299), and 40% off for used. I also refurb Classics starting at $349. I have about 40 software programs for the Classic at extreme discounts. All this stuff and more is on my website:

THANKS!

Does this mean the software is not free? It does function on both units, but one gives an error message about "this drive does not belong to this Cassie". Has anyone ghosted the HDD to a new one and had it work properly?

Software for Classics was installed from a floppy disc. In the process the machine wrote its serial number to the disc. (It refused to install if you slid the write protect tab over). This meant that the program on the disc could not be installed on a different machine. Simple but effective. ;)

Programs loaded on the hard drive of one machine will probably not work in another machine.
