Solitaire Users & Sony HDR-FX1

I'm looking for owners of the Solitaire and the Sony HDR-FX1 videocamera and has Smart Edit 9. I can not download HD footage via firewire. I can only down to SD. I've tried about everything I can think of and even had some help but to no avail. I can turn on the source (FX1) from the Solitaire just fine but when I hit the record button on the Solitaire - nothing! I can load it on SE8 just fine. (I have 4 different hard drives) What the H%## am I doing wrong?
