I have a customer (co-video production company) that requires my service to transfer 8mm film to a hard drive that he can import the family video files and edit to his own desires on a Mac. I can record the film directly to either a Renommee Plus or (shudder) an S4000 Pro.
The Reno would be the easiest for me to deal with confidently but it may not export compatible files. If there is a thread covering this or has Chet done a tutorial for this process. I have done searches here and on Chet's site but didn't get any hits directly related to this requirement. Can anyone point me to an example of how this is done. The customer has furnished a hard drive of unknown formatting or possibly I could use type 2 disk transfer on DVDs? There will be a lot of data to transfer as there is a large box of film to transfer.

Re: video files to Mac external hard drive????
Bogart 4 now allows the exportation of AVI files (MP4 in a wrapper) to a USB or HD from the scene bin via the "opt" button located to the right of the scene bin.. No more "dog and pony show" from media manager needed for this option.
This may be your answer and it works VERY well. Place the individual clips to the HD and give it to the client OR make an entire scene of the SB...then when in the scene bin, export same.
NOTE: To save individual scenes in your bin as a group, DO NOT use a CD/DVD. Use a HD/Flash drive etc. WHY? Because each seperate scene gets finalized on the disc. In other words, there is no way to export several individual scene to a disc. After the first exported scene/clip, the CD/DVD will automatically FINALIZE only the one clip.
One must use an external/usb/flash media for multiple clips exported from the scene bin. The only exception in BOGART 4 is to make an ENTIRE SCENE of your SB, then export from the scene bin. Of course, there will not be individual SB clips available as an auto-split.
