Where can I find this greenscreen background video?

Post by johnneumann »

In this Dennis Prager video, in all the scenes where he's on screen, there's a pleasing blue animation behind him. At first, it looks like a solid blue, but it has a faint movement to it.

The only thing I know about greenscreen animations are the old Sony Jumpbacks - and they were all way too complex for a subtle background.

Does anyone know where to find this animation? I could get a lot of use out of this.

Probably Hotcakes will have what you are looking for. There are several volumes, but Volume 2 Organic Backdrops (Blue Pink Folds) is a similar graphic to what you described, albeit a slightly different colour.

In any event, Hotcakes graphics can be made to look almost like anything you want. For instance the one above I used the “Colour control” with the red at 50% to make it more blue and less purple and “Mirror” to flip the darker blue to the other side. If the graphic is too fast, use slow motion as required. When happy make a scene and save in your custom images.

In other words, using effects on Hotcakes, you can make almost any backdrop required.

There are I believe 8 volumes + others with special event graphics for weddings, etc.

Incidentally, for the less complicated backdrops (like the one in the clip), you can have a go at making your own. Without going into detail you can use say Video Spicerack to generate some basic patterns, colourise them as required, then use transitions in the story board to create the changing effect you need. Make a scene and bake in the oven for 10mins.

Thank you, Ian. I've already gone to their website and looked at the titles you suggested. You're correct, it's almost a perfect match.

Hey, in your signature line, it says that you don't own QuadCam. May I ask why not? I just recently bought it but haven't started working with it. I wonder is there some problem with it that I didn't read about that's got people like Ian boycotting it or something?

Hi John
As far as I am aware there is no problem with QuadCam, certainly not with Smart Edit, it is just that I don’t need this program. On the few occasions I do a multiple cam shoot (usually never more than two cams) I edit the old way, using the synchronised insert method. It’s quite easy and I am used to it.

I’m not in editing for business, I am just an enthusiastic amateur. I have done weddings for friends and relations, but that is only very occasionally.

By the way, I said in my first reply that you can save your modified backdrops in “custom images”, a senior moment I’m afraid  , since custom images are stills and not animated. Any made up or modified animations I keep in project 30 and will use disc transfer (my generation 2 units) or S ‘n’ S to keep long term.
