Saving video clips from SE 2.5 drive to updated SE 9.1 Drive

Post by GoraPeterson »

I have a Avio DV, DVD with and external sledge connection. I have drives with SE 2.5 with lots of wonderful African video on them. Is there a way to move the data files with a PC or Mac to another drive. Update OS the drive in the Avio to SE 9.1 then resore the data files and beable to use them with the updated OS? Version 2.5 had not way to Backup or Restore the Storyboard clips.
Are the data files the same format for SE 2.5 and SE 9.1?

Thanks for any technical help you can give.

You list having a Reno and an S4000in your signature.

Why not "try" and connect one of these to your Avio, via Firewire, and output from that (in the Finish menu) to the Record screen on one of the others ?

This option has been available between machines but it's success varies on which actual software versions (Smart Edit and/or Bogart) that you have

So just give it a go and see "if" it works - you can then either try and transfer the footage back after updating the Avio's hard drives or just leave it where it is and continue from there . . .

If the direct transfer method doesn't work, you can output to DV tape and then reload back in after upgrading the OS.
