how to export video files to quick time

i have a s4000 pro and need to export some video and audio footage from the hard drive to a usb drive. to make it more complicated, it needs to be able to be played on a apple computer. i'm told a quick time would be best. can anyone give the info on the how to. thanks

Try HANDBRAKE or ANY VIDEO CONVERTER for starters.

Maybe - but if it "just" needs to be played on a Mac then (so far) VLC has played almost everything the Bogart has chucked out for me . . .

In short yes. But only in a very small file size for like an ipod or smart phone. That is the only .mov export choice in media manager at this time.. Like Lou suggested, I would try a video converter program for now to create the quicktime files.

I know that we can import a Qiuck Time .mov file codec into Bogart & that works pretty good but generally, Macs prefer .mp4 files rather than .avi. I have had tons of issues with customers not being able to play back Cassie created .avi or MPEG files. I currently use Bogart 3.6c so I archive to media manager from the scene been or storyboard then select the H.264-You Tube .mp4 codec (1280 X 720 - 2000 Kbps). It will then play fine on a pc in windows 7 desk top, or macs for the most part. I do not know if the relatively new feature that was introduced in Bogart 4 where you can export a scene from the scene bin to a thumb drive will play back on a mac or pc as even though it is an .mp4 file, it is an .avi wrapper. I think that MS needs to make a straight H.264/.mp4 files without the .avi wrappers for better compatibility. The second from the top choice in media manager labeled: H264-direct .mp4 is suppose to be lossless, but there is a bug (at least in Bogart 3.6c) where you cannot use this codec if you export a clip from the Bogart side, you will get an error message however, if you import footage directly into media manager, then you can use that codec without the error code. It has something to do with the "MPEG Conversion" issue when checked to ON, but you have to have it checked on, or you will lose audio track. The other weird thing is if you don't need audio on a particular clip or project, you can export from Bogart to media manager WITHOUT the mpeg convert set to on, then you CAN use the direct .mp4 codec in media manager. Sorry for the long post.

I will be upgrading to Bogart 5.

Bogart 5 and Render Booster will be helpful for web based videos as MP4 will be available at different bit rates I am told.

Earlier versions of Bogart require a trip into the Media Manager forest (much neater now with the 'new' Media Manager that comes with Bogart v5) and so maybe re-encoding would be best in those situations.

Just don't use the MP 4 SD setting and experiment with the MP4 bit rates I am told.
