Has anyone got a Panasonic AG AC8 ?
A Topaz user (with Bogart v6) has recoded some footage and it imports just fine in AVCHD via a card reader or directly with USB from the camera - so far so good!
However connecting the Panasonic to the Topaz doesn’t record any audio from the camera when using the A/V connections (yellow/red/white leads from mini jack) but does record the video, via the yellow.
So, he plugged the AV lead from the camera into the TV directly and it plays both video and audio fine.
Connected a CD player to the Topaz and audio is recorded fine too.
Plugged the Panasonic (via AV) into an old VCR and then plugged that into the Topaz (via AV) and that all works.
Does anyone have any idea as to why the AV out from the Panasonic AG AC8 won’t record audio (it does record picture) into the Topaz via RCA because it has got me stumped

Hi Michael,
please advise to check how the audio mode is set in CAM.
I think it should be set to 2ch(2channel stereo) and not 5.1ch.
Would be nice to hear from you if it helped solving this problem.
I read your posting in German-Support-Forum.
Just curious to know why would someone try analog recording when
the digital recording works fine

Thanks Hans - will give it a go.
Would that affect analogue audio out but not the 'digital' then ?
The AVCHD clip that he filmed was long and split on the card.
First section recorded in ok but the second 'lost' its audio.
So we were trying to get the audio in another way (to match it up) and couldn't understand a) how it plays on the TV just fine and B) why putting it through an old VCR could possibly make any difference and C) why the audio record works ok with everything else but not the AG AC8 on the Topaz

Hi Michael,
my tip was just a try.
Also for me a mystery why the analogue audio from Cam isn't accepted by Topas RCA-Inputs.

To point out the obvious, you do have the audio input set to: "rear RCA" right?

Yep - that was set correctly as when the Panasonic was connected 'through' an old VCR it all worked as expected.
It is all most odd - I can't imagine what changes (in this set up) by passing the signal through another device, the VCR.

Haven't been able to check this out yet, hopefully later today - maybe "this" is the answerI think it should be set to 2ch(2channel stereo) and not 5.1ch.
