First I'd like to thank Lou Bruno for his reply to my previous question.
Problem is crackling/popping on music tracks as played back from my S6000 running Bogart 5.5.
Original track is an mp3 of a flute. It plays back clean on computer speakers or studio monitor speakers.
When I load it into the S6000, however, (I've tried both USB stick and also ripping it from a CD),
it plays back with unacceptable crackling and popping.
It does not appear to be a problem with levels. Even if I reduce the levels so that it peaks in the blue range,
I still hear the distortion. Also, on the waveform screen, the peaks are below the top, that is, they are not chopped off.
It is not a problem with the speakers. I hear it through the speakers, through headphones, or if I export the track via USB and play it back on another system.
I have tried "Check for Overmodulation" and Denoise with no success.
It is worse on this flute track but I also hear it on a harmonica track.
Interestingly a sine wave created and played back in the audio record screen plays back clean, but if I drop it into the audio mix screen, I hear the popping and crackling.
The track plays back clean if I drop it into a Windows Movie Maker audio track.
I've created a track where you can listen to the original track and the track as played back from the S6000 (about 45 seconds long).

What else can I try! Thanks for any suggestions! Randolph

Re: Audio distortion in S6000
Does your final product have the distortion? If not, it may just be a gremlin in the system. I haven't notice any audio problems with my S-6000.
