Ksebara Audio

I can't figure out why the Ksebara won't give me audio when I rip from DVD. The video is great, but I get no audio. Any suggestions?

Ksebara generally does not load the audio from non-Arabesk made DVDs. Was this DVD burned on Arabesk? One of Ksebara's quirks.

No, it is a dvd of a short film that a friend made. I'm wanting to cut clips into an interview I shot with him.

Yes, I tried media manager and it would play the dvd fine but when I tried import it would not show anything in the drive. This is something I've noticed in the past, where it will play but not import.

I suppose that I'll have to do this the old fashioned way and just run it analog from a dvd player. Seems like it ought to pull audio. The video is of great quality.

If the video quality is good and you do not want to degrade it further, why not leave it and import the audio separately, using the RCA sockets. It should not take too much effort to find a common sync point and to accurately add the audio to the video.

The easiest way to accurately sync the audio to the video, is to find a common point where the audio and video have a distinct point, like a door closing or a hand clap.

Starting with the video, “trim” “start” scroll up to the reference point. Now using the “trim” “out” scroll all the way back as far as it will go, so there will now be just one frame of the common reference point.

Again using the “trim” “start” scroll back to the point where the video clip is going to start and note the time length of the clip, which will be the time from the new start of the scene to the reference point. Now again using the “trim” “finish” scroll forwards to the point where the video clip will finish and make a note of the total scene time.

Repeat this process for the audio and you should have a video and audio which are the same length. Just add the audio to the video as normal and there you have it.

Alternatively you could just add the audio and on a trail and error basis, sync the audio to the video using the position function.

Then I would just import the video into your "S" 4K via YC cables rather than RCA from a DVD player which have S-OUT. Less compression than Ksebara in my opinion.
