John,

Just want to confirm, you mean you use Photo Studio on your Casablanca?
Do you use version 1 or 2?

If you have not previously had success with a USB-Flash Drive on your Casablanca I would point out that most folks on a Casablanca II (including Renommee Plus) find that only two flash drive models are fully compatible:
PNY Attache and Kingston Data Traveller. Some folks report others that do work but I have not seen that consistently and frankly I recommend trying only 1 or these two devices as it limits the other issues you may be dealing with.

There are a host of other issues you may be dealing with why a photo may not be recognized in PS2, from a too low resolution to a scanned B/W photo that was not saved as a color JPEG. You can enter one of these topics in the search tool at top right for further discussion on these items.

Chet

Yeah, don't it SUCK! You have to shop a certain brand stick to talk to the Ren? I also can't use the back end ports for ANY import work on the Ren, because mine is not recognizing imports back there, memory sticks, jump sticks, nothing. The one and only way to really get an image into it is with a CD. I just found out also, that it will see thru folders and import all the pics on a disc, without recognizing the folders at all. For this reason, I warn everybody to use successive numbering from folder to folder, so that you don't have two pics with the same file name or number. This I just found out from a current project, using stills. But experience comes as much or more from mistakes as from things going as expected.

Um, that is true about life in general Jim.

I don't have any trouble using USB flash drives.

Not formerly with my Solitaire, not with my S4000Pro for the limited formats that they are supposed to work with.

Off hand, Sandisk is the only brand that I know doesn't work well with our Gen2 units.

That said, your old Gen2 units, even the Rens I believe just have USB1 connections which was never really designed for heavy duty use such as video.

USB1 jacks are pretty much relegated to mice, trackballs, keyboards and low stream data transfers such as a JPEGs, fonts, etc. on USB flash drives and memory cards on USB multi-card readers.

As for the folder thing, that is an obvious given for anyone that has used our systems at all as there is never any "folders" to open or drill down through, just the files that are recognized.

I do wish MSDE would broaden the format compatibility as there are far more than JPEGs in the photo world and our system is even fussy with JPEGS.

I was talking about importing Jpg's thru the rear USB inputs, not video. Couldn't do it with a reader or jumpstick.

It is called "user error" Jim as it works. :P

We all experience it sooner or later, but new users experience it more of course.

Best guess without knowing your exact situation is you do not have the software called Card Drive loaded and activated which is required for the system to recognize and read external USB devices such as flash drives and multi-card readers.

It is a free software for those that have purchased Photo Transfer and/or Photo Studio, but it does need to be loaded and activated to work.

You will find it on the All Software CD and if you have misplaced or do not have the activation code for it get with your dealer or MSUS.

Hmmm, will have to look back over my latest All Software CD again. Don't remember seeing it last time. Will that allow me to ferry over a jpg with a jump drive? Some gigs require only a pic or two from the PC to mix in with the job I'm doing. I do have Photo Studio 2 in here. I am just so glad the editor is a stand-alone unit, and its problems do not pollute the PC, nor do the PC's bugs affect it. Very good NOT to have the software in the PC.

Yes, as long as the JPB is properly formatted as our system is really fussy about that.
