Importing AVCHD from SD cards

Post by LarryB »

I would like to trade in one of my Prestiges for a 4100, but have a question about importing AVCHD from SD cards. We have just currently gone tapeless, shooting everythin with Panasonic 150 HD cameras that use the SD cards. Is it possible to import directly from a card reader into the 4100? thanks Larrt

Larry,

Yes, the SD cards can be read into the S4100 via an external card reader connected via USB.

Larry,

I use the HF S10 Canon which is AVCHD and it loads fine via SD cards. I also use the MRCK-1 tapeless CF SONY recorder and I can import .M2T files as well. Tapeless is great, but I still like tape for archival purposes.

Q: How is the lowlight performance of your 150 compared to cameras you have owned in the past?

I used the HMC70 that a bud of mine bought and the footage came is really fast from SD card.

But Lou, I know we talked about this, but how are you using the Sony CF recorder? Do you firewire over the footage or does it come in like AVCHD is faster than real-time?

Chris Stone's got one of these great little recorders, you know.

You can use firewire to bring in the footage with this unit, or you can put the card in a multicard reader and bring in the footage via usb. I only tried that once and I believe I had to use media manager to do it and it didnt work very well. The footage was corrupted and off color. I'll have to try it again, cause I dont remember the details.
