Disk Transfer on Avio Question

Post by 50BCProductions »

Just got it yesterday.
I have completed a originally filmed super 8 Horror film trailer for a Guy down in Jersey.
Trailer is 47 seconds long.
Need to get this put onto Youtube and online.
Ordered and installed disc transfer.
When using it keeps asking me to add scenes, but I want to export whole 47 second project, convert to AVI and get on the web.
What am I doing wrong?
Please advise-Thanks-Dustin

Disk Transfer transfers Scenes, not Storyboards.

So just use the Scene function to Create a Scene of your entire 47 second Storyboard and then Add that Scene using Disk Transfer.

Also, prior to Add Scene, go into Arabesk, Settings and set the Disk Transfer type to Type 2 as Type 1 is strictly for internal archive use and will not be compatible with a PC or Mac.

You MUST do this prior to Add Scene as doing it after, but before Burn Disk is too late as the Type setting is formatted during the ADD, not the Burn.

Disk Transfer gets your production over to a PC (or Mac) at full resolution in the AVI format which is the standard one used for lossless transfer, but YouTube uses highly compressed formats for net viewing and you need to convert to one of those.

There are several choices and a complex amount of settings as well.

I suggest you read the online YouTube tutorials on that.

Tim is correct in the Disk Transfer purpose however, I always upload the .avi type 2 clip directly to YouTube with no problem to avoid transcoding to WMV files which re-compresses your footage.

You can use windows movie maker on your pc to create a high quality NTSC 720X480 video in large or small settings etc, I prefer to encode my Disk Transfer file direct. All of my video samples posted on this forum were loaded using the Disk Tranfer method.

I do not use YouTube Joel and thought from the previous question that it must not accept AVIs directly.

Is there a trick to uploading an AVI file to YouTube?

I am curious of that as well......
It seems when I converted from AVI to WMV it seriously messed with my title and fade times.
They are running much faster than what I created.
See my video link posted here on the forum.
Cannot figure it out?
