Importing Webinar files into Renommee

Post by KimSWilliamson »

A Client sent me an additional 3 hour Webinar file on a CD to add to their lecture I videotaped in person and am editing.

So, the portion of the lecture that is on the CD is in a file format that is called G2M3 codec, which is what the Webinar website uses.

So, can i just slap this sucker into the Arabesk and the Renommee will magically read it without any problem?

If anyone knows how to do this, I sure could use some suggestions,

Kindest Regards,

Kim,

This is the codec (format) used by GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar to archive their meetings/webinars. You will need to download the reader application here:
http://www.gotomeeting.com/codec. This will allow you to convert the file to a .WMV file which you will then need to play from your PC to your Casablanca (from Windows Movie Maker, etc). That would be the easiest when working with a Renommee.

Thank you Chet,

Can I burn it as a .WMV from Windows movie maker onto a CD or DVD and then put it into the Renommee? I have never done this before. Can you tell me the steps for getting it into the Renommee?

Yes to the first question, no to the 2nd. It would be easier to take that WMV file, drop it into Windows Movie Maker (or other video editing software you have on your PC) and then transfer via firewire (either direct to your Renommee - if it recognizes your PC... or to DV tape and then firewire from DV tape back into Renommee)

Thanks Chet,

I do have a LaCie external hard drive. Could I somehow save it from Windows Movie Maker to the LaCie hard drive, then import it into Renommee through backup retrieval?

I do not know the procedure for making my Renommee take firewire from my PC.

Thank you so much, Kim

Kim -- sorry but not, Smart Edit does not recognize a WMV file. To get the video from your PC into your Renommee:
1. Export to DV tape (power off the camera/deck) from your PC
2. Connect the camera/deck to your Renommee (power back on)
3. Import the video as if it were footage from the field.

Voila!

I successfully recorded the Webinar data (audio and video powerpoint lecture) from Windows Movie Maker onto my sony camera, and into Renomee.

I am not happy with the results however. The camera recorded the constant on screen jiggling/jittering movement that is on the powerpoint lecture - Yikes! It is very noticible especially in the Renommee. I dont see it when I am viewing the lecture on Windows Movie maker on my CPU screen.

Hmmmm.... any suggestions? Also, anyone know how to directly input into Renommee from Windows Movie Makaer via firewire?

My 55 year old brain is having a hard time figuring out all this format stuff. Is there possible a way to convert the .WMV file into an .AVI file?

Many thanks Chet,

Kim

I think the shaking/jittering that shows once the data has been recorded on the MiniDV tape occurs during the rendering within Windows movie Maker, which then magically takes hold of my camera and dumps the data on there.

I come to this conclusion, because, when viewing the Webinar lecture on Windows Movie Maker - there is no jittering, no shaking of the screen shots, nothing, it looks like a normal power point presentation.

So, again, I am concluding there is some conversion problem occuring within Move Maker, or within my Sony DSR HC21, accepting the data from Movie Maker (as a .WMV) file.
