Jeanton,

You have not caused any problems with me at this end of that I can assure you.

Ironically, speaking of the YouTube video, at a meeting with Jörg on Wednesday I cautioned him about his enthusiasm when he speaks about the future and how people take it as facts and promises.

He did not realize that and said right out that all of this is what he foresees and wants, but cannot guarantee.

So I told him I'd like to hear a disclaimer at the banquet Thursday before he got into the new stuff coming down the pipe.

(We have an easygoing relationship and all of this was expressed light heartedly, but sincerely.)

You can view his entire speech as well as the video he created and showed us at the banquet about his private live as well as his business life and you would be surprised at some of his hobbies.

You have to be a Casablanca Expert subscribing member http://www.casablancaexpert.com/?messag ... gged%20out to view the video and I would strongly recommend becoming a subscribing member for all the benefits it gives you in training, tutorials and such beyond the bonuses such as being able to see this video.

I am a gold member myself.

If you are a subscriber you can see Jörg's banquet speech and video in their entirety here:

For those that are not members here is a direct quote at the beginning of the speech in response to my suggestion:
“I so am really happy that I have made it to all these five March Get Togethers.

Well, if I look at what we’ve presented over the years, we always have new stuff to show.

This time I’ve been warned very drastically to just tell you that when I talk about the future, I talk about what we WANT to do in the future. (much laughter for the way he emphasized it)

So I hate to start with disclaimers, but you know. . .

I talk about intentions and intentions usually happen and I think I got a pretty good hit rate of maybe 80% of the stuff I’m telling you that is coming sooner or later.

Some stuff isn’t making it because turns out technology didn’t go that way, turns out someone else wasn’t delivering or simply we had other priorities, we had other things that we’ve been forced to do by money whatever or law, but, so when I’m talking about the future don’t take these as promises.

Take it as perspectives and chances. A lot of these will happen, but some of these things may not happen.

Ok Tim?
I laughed and gave him two thumbs up and he went on with the future and then showed his video which was made in a challenge by the attendees at MGT 2008 to him.

I did not see the YouTube video you mention Jeanton, but I would bet he made it in the same innocently enthusiastic style and probably will think about "qualifiers" or disclaimers in the future now, but I will vouchsafe for the man that his intent was never to decieve.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Jeanton wrote:This is nothing to do with my dealer in Australia he has always been very professional and helpful in support and sales and have adressed my problems with the machine through him aswell. This issue is with Jorge showing of the S4000 range on YouTube last year that was for me misleading. He showed a product with all bells and whistles on it, but when we received the machine it had none of it and still not have. I mean with that all the format in and out puts that you could do on this machine as I said before it doesn't do a WMV file with sound. Most users of the S4000 must have seen this footage and made there decision to buy this product based on that and that's what I mean with being mislead. When you buy a car and they show you all the features in it, you'll expect it to be in there when you pick it up and complain if you don't get what you have been promised and paid for.
When asking those questions I never intent to cause any trouble for any one involved so I am sorry if I did.
Hi Jeanton, your questions did not cause me a problem at all. They were clearly not directed to or about DraCo Systems Australia. I thank you sincerely for clarifying that point.

Best regards,

Greg

Casablanca Unit: S2000 with all software. I also have a Prestige that I used on my film transfer station. I have B4W loaded on a laptop. I have a S4000 Pro that I am going to trade in for a discount on software for my B4W setup. I even have my first Cassie, the AVIO that I am going to hook up. Not sure what I will use it for but I want to see it run again.

I attended the MGT and still have questions about my S4000 Pro and if it will ever have all the bugs worked out. My front headphone jack doesn't work and I will have to send it to Boulder just for that. Who ships a machine without testing if all the jacks work? I bought the all software bundle along with my unit last summer and am very disappointed that a lot of the programs are not yet compatible. They released a HD backup utility for Bogart but I have to pay extra to get it! They are charging the same price for the bundle that I paid but now people are getting more than I did. I read where they lowered the cost of the S4000 Pro and the software bundle. I am feeling very unsatisfied at the moment. I spoke with Eric at the MGT and Dennis has been nice and given me codes for some software but I feel slighted yet. I bought the machine after they announced how great it would be and showed my loyalty, now I am still waiting to see if it will ever live up to expectations.

Hi Tim

You tould me before you haven't seen the footage that was postedon Youtube her is the link to the footage that I mentioned before and where I understood that the new machine could do all that.

All is OK now and it is alot more reliable than it was when I first started.

Jeanton,

Thanks for the link which I watched and I plan to buy two of those immediately now. ;)

Yes, I can see how that might have lulled someone into false optimism, but it was Jörg demonstrating a beta version of a unit not even on the market yet.

That is called "vaporware" by the experienced and is normal hyping at NAB type of events, etc that no one should use their cold hard cash on.

In the US case, the first real units were not even available for another six plus months and actually had none of the explained capabilities demoed.

I cautioned Jörg that his enthusiasm for his new "toys" made his demonstrating the new stuff sound like all features of these in development tools to be solid factual claims rather than expected and intended features.

To his credit he rumbled off a disclaimer explaining that everything he was showing at MGT 09 were what was in development and planned, but some of it might not make it past real world roadblocks both physical, economical, etc and then asked me publicly if the disclaimer was good enough. :D

Jörg is a solid, stand up guy and I will vouch that he was never meaning to decieve anyone about his products.

However, If you are prone or vulnerable to purchasing expensive products by YouTube or other internet hype have I the phone for you:

PS - This takes a fair while to load, but is worth it, very slick phone capabilities.

Back to the real world S4P, yep slowly coming around and as I mentioned after talking to Jörg at MGT I believe solid bug fixing is in the pipeline so that our units finally become the solid workhorses they were designed to be.
