Automatic Bogart Activation Code Input

YES!

It works!

It is of course tedious to type this up, but as you only have to do it once rather than type/input the codes physically each and everytime this was totally worth it.

I typed in all the codes copying a file a colleague of ours, Hans Joachim was kind enough to send me and carefully replacing his machine's designation number and codes with mine as well as adding software he did not have that I have mimicking the pattern I saw in the nomenclature.

AND IT WORKED!

I know I have a couple that did not work which means I have to figure out the right spelling in the labelling to get them accepted, but I'll figure that out.

The ones that are not labeled acceptedly in mine are:
SplitX Celebration V1.0
Surround Effect Pack V1.4

As soon as I figure out the right spelling/formatting of the labeling for those two I will mention it here and update my file copy online (but it might not be tonight).

You can use my file as a template substituting in your S4P# and activation codes.

http://www.videosonics.biz/lizenzen.txt

Name the file: Lizenzen

This is German for License.

I actually labeled it License the first attempt and it did not work, but I also had other files, including txt files on the flash drive and I both changed it back to the German spelling and eliminated the other files on the flash drive and I am not positive which caused the success or if even both are necessary, but you now know one way that works.

I made the file the only one on the flash drive (I do not know if this is necessary, but I wanted to eliminate complexity to troubleshooting this experiment).

I did the full, destructive install, removed the OS CD and powered down, THEN inserted the USB flash drive with the file and powered up.

The basic software was all ACTIVATED without doing anything else.

Then I inserted the All Software CD and started Activating the optional software and it worked just like it use it use to on my Solitaire (progess bar, activation).

It is almost silly to be so excited about this working "as good" as it use to automatically on my Solitaire, but if you had manually re-entered the Activation Codes as often as I have already on the S4P you would understand. :D

PS - I am jumping the gun here (because I live to experiment LOL) and I am sure MSUS plans to ultimately supply this type of file with your codes for you and you might be safer and it would certainly be easier to wait for MSUS, but if you really want to try this I have told you how.

PSS - Another caution, I typed up all codes I have from my Solitaire transfer and took out a couple such as Motion Perfect that I know I will never be able to use on the S4P, but not all and not many that are not yet ready for use on S4P (they make the system unstable), so only Activate the optional software that MSUS is saying has been Ok'd as ready for the S4P or suffer the headaches of increased crashes and possibly other weird things.

PSSS- Thanks to Vincent for bringing this to our attention and Vincent I no longer need your file and Kudos for Hans pioneering this verification and supplying me with his file.

This is very cool! Not only for those of us who complete a clean install, but also for folks who receive their new system -- it even saves them the steps of inputting those activation codes for the first time, no?

And might I suggest a short-cut to save each of us from typing the codes into the template provided by Tim -- you can have both the PDF or text document with the codes that came with your S4000/PRO unit and the text file template open on your computer desktop. You can copy from the code sheet for your specific unit and paste into the correct space on the lizenzen text file. I just tried it and will verify its success tomorrow as I have the pleasure of working with a brand new S-2000 demo unit at an Educators Technology Conference this week in Texas at the CAM Audio exhibit!

P.S. For those new to text files - when operating in pretty much any word processing document, you need to click on 'Save As' and select 'text' or 'text file' as the type. For folks on a Windows PC - this works well using your Notepad as it only saves as a Text file.

Kudos and thanks again to Vincent, Hans and Tim!

Regards,
Chet

Actually, I cut and pasted Tim's outstanding work from his link into my NOTEPAD then erased his codes making a template. This will automatically makes a .txt file when NOTEPAD is saved. Don't forget to change your serial# and add same to the top of the list.

I then copied my codes from a code sheet and transferred all of them over to the NOTEPAD.

I did it precisely as Tim did including two spaces after the colon :

ALSO...pay attention to EffectJingles3 and EffectJinglesT&T. They require the same code as each other.

Nice job gentleman and thanks for the tip CHET!! Again...Vincent....Hans and Tim outstanding work tonight.

Hi Tim
Try the Split X without the spaces like SplitXWedding:

That's just for PAL owners, right?

No, it's just for Dalco UK customers, which means England as Martyn is that country's national distributor.

The PAL/NTSC issue is a non-issue with this process as I directly used a German PAL supplied version of the file for my template, not even changing the German spelling of the file's name.

The issue is the labor it takes to type or cut/paste all the personalized activation codes to such a file.

I can understand why Martyn would only wish to do this for his customers and not the world. :D
