Hello All
Would like to get a few suggestions on purchasing a Sony video camera. Very small budget , do not have HD capability for Solitaire, would like to know if the cameras that record to a hard drive or card can be used effectivley with Solitaire or should I try to stay in mini-dv format though choices are slim? I am running version 6.1a . Is there an upgrade that I should get . If so how do I go about it and how much would it cost? Thanks so much for your help.

I think you can edit HD in 1080i. Check out this link. http://www.clamcamvideo.com/SysManuals/ ... enView.pdf
Your profile shows your Solitaire with 6.1a, I think there was an upgrade to a higher version of OS 6 with fixes.

Hi Greg

When you buy a new camera make sure you can export the footage to your editing machine. I know Video Jim had lots of trouble to get the footage into his machine. It might be wise to spend a few extra dollars to have the right connection, it will save you lots of work in the future.

If it were me I would look at a camera that recorded to tape - most all of the contemporary models will record to HDV and then down-convert to DV so you can enjoy the higher resolution possible with the newer image sensors and then either edit in HD or downconvert for a speedier work-flow.

IF you were considering an upgrade to the Bogart units (or an Ultra Card Upgrade for your Solitaire) I would strongly consider the newer AVCHD camcorders. This newer solid state media is a very promising technology. But is transferred via USB - something that is capable on the new S4000/PRO and the forthcoming S2000 models.
