Blue Box World Death

Every time I do anything in Blue Box World (and I do mean anything) it says an "abnormal error occurred" and shuts down.
Rebooting takes at least 2 lost minutes and then when I try again, the same thing happens.

I have loads of processing power with a Renommee Plus and running smart edit 7, but the same thing always happened
on my 2 Krons before this, running smart edit 4 and 6, respectively.

Plain old Bluebox occasionally works but does not have enough adjustments to render a really keen keying.

I've got a big project coming up and I'm considering breaking out my old Panasonic AVE55 mixer for the chroma-keying.
It's a real bother to run two DVD decks with footage through the mixer into the Renommee but to secure premium keys,
it looks like I really have no other choice.

It seems a lot of other Cassie users have this problem. Is a fix on the way? Is there a solution?

Sincerely,
Alan M. Simmons :x

When my Kron Plus has shut itself down with the Red Box of Death it's usually because I did one of three things.

1) I try clicking and changing options so fast the Kron can't keep up and chokes.
2) I do so many experiments and "undo's" that the Kron gets confused, says, "NO MORE EXPERIMENTS!" and shuts down. That's why I switch to a different project and back periodically.
3) I click on Full Screen Preview first and then click the Start button when BBW is selected  :o :( . The Kron Plus, now with Smart Edit 8, won't stand for it and says, "Not with my processor you don't!" Blue Box World already has a full screen preview - at least in two monitor mode. Try opening it without clicking FULL SCREEN PREVIEW and see if that works.

I'm not aware of any problem with BBW unless this is an NTSC problem. Have you tried a FULL installation of the o/s? Are you on the latest version of the o/s you are using?

You might try downloading a fresh version of BBW. If you are having the same problem on multiple units, the software may have a corrupt file.

I just tested Blue Box World in all different configurations on my Solitaire Plus model w/o problems in SE 8.

Though it doesn't apply to the problem described, might add that with the S-4000 PRO and our studio's 10-foot blue and green Chroma-Key screens illuminated only by 2 500-Watt floods, plain old "Bluebox" looks very good. No back- (rim) light. The only drawback compared with a "real time" Chroma-Key system is the rendering, which is about 6 times the scene length. For what it's worth ...

The reason listed for red box of death are right on. I do get the box when I move to quickly in BBW as well.

With my other editors I had it happen sometimes when I would stop a Preview before it would finish. Don't remember what OS I was on back then.

I just recreated the problem. I got the death box after I added BBW to the storyboard, viewed it in full size, then tried to start the program. This happened 3 out of 3 tries and sure it would do it every time.
Regarding the crashes when moving to quickly once in BBW, this happens randomly and I couldn't recreate it tonight to give you the steps.
