some help with A4

After spending a good bit of time designing custom buttons for chapter menus in a video, I got over to editing the menu on the whole DVD and did not tell it to look at them first. In fact, they never showed up, not even at the end. How do I set up the main DVD menu settings to see and go to the chapter menu for one video? Also, in A4 you are supposed to be able to move a button by just hitting a side or corner and going where you want with it, but that's not working at all. I still have to hit the "position" button to move a button. Wonder why? Thanks.

Hello Jim,
This is Jim also. ON Arabesk 4 you can move the entire button using the "position" button....but what you may be expecting to do really is not what actually happens. If you click on the edge of the button or frame.... two arrows show up one on each side of the edge. If you release your track ball button and click it a second time....it will grab a hold of the edge of the button and will allow you to move the edges anywhere and also if you click on a corner, release and click again to grab it, you can move two sides of the button or frame at once. You can not move the entire button without using the "Position" button.
This grabbing of the button edges is really very ticklish and takes some playing with to see how it works. I many times will have to attempt a grab several times before I actually make it connect and lock onto the button edge. But when you get it to connect you can streach the button almost anywhere you like. But practice is needed to make it work. I went months with out knowing it would work until one day I accidentally released the mouse and clicked a second time and it grabbed it perfectly. I was really suprised to accidentally find out it's secret that way.

I would cautiously like to add that you can move the entire button. There are three types of arrows: perpendicular to the sides, angled from the corner, and if you position the cursor just right... 4-way arrows. When you have the 4-way arrow (try the top left corner) then click it twice as Jim Meeker suggests. I don't have Arabesk 4, but was playing in the demo mode a few days ago.

What I was attempting to learn from was the A4 addendum training DVD, and to imitate what the teacher says you can do-which you can't. I went back and very carefully poitioned the cursor in the corner of a box- actually 3- until I had 4 arrows, and then double clicked, and the whole box moved to wherever I wanted it. The point is, this is NOT what the training DVD says you have to do. It is something you have to figure out on your own.

Hello Everyone,
Hey this is great, I learned something new as well as accidentally figuring how to move the edges, I didn't know about the four arrows and being able to move the whole box. See this forum IS a great source for learning about our Cassies.
The manuals really do suck. Ian now you know what that means over on this side of the pond.

I think "suck" is a little strong because they are not a total waste of time. They do teach some useful stuff, they just leave out some of what we need to know to work the software we have. But that's what Chuck, Charlie, Chet- ol what's his name- is for! Right, Chad?
