Casablanca Unit: S2000 with all software. I also have a Prestige that I used on my film transfer station. I have B4W loaded on a laptop. I have a S4000 Pro that I am going to trade in for a discount on software for my B4W setup. I even have my first Cassie, the AVIO that I am going to hook up. Not sure what I will use it for but I want to see it run again.

DVD-RW 1X

Post by MikeMattke »

I remember someone telling me that my Avio will only recognize DVD-RW if they are 1X. I hate to keep wasting DVDs to use for disc transfer to my S4000Pro. I have programs on the Avio that do not work yet on the newer unit so I want to be able to transfer scenes without using a one-time-use DVD each time. I mostly have stuff I do in Colombus and PhotoStudio2 and some other applications that I have to do on the Avio. Who knows a vendor that sells the DVD-RW 1X ??? I have tried the DVD-RW 4X but the Avio won't recognize them.

Hello Mike,

I am curious - have you tried +RW disks?
I use -R for all my regular DVD burns but I use a DVD+RW for my Disk Transfer stuff (it was just what was available to me one day). Now, granted I use a different system (Renommee Plus) and the S4K PRO(like you) but wonder if the +RW would work for you.

Chet

Hi Mike

Have you tied to tranfer by Firewire from your Avio to your S4000. You might have to have a few goes at it because some times the S4000 doesn't reconize the connection. Put also some extra footage infront of the scene you want to use as it can be a bit slow to start up some times. Just make sure to connect them in the right order.

Regarding recognizing them, I wonder if that was that old read time problem.

Try inserting the -RW manually (aka: use the physical button on the drive itself to open the drawer, insert the DVD, close the drawer with the physical button and count to ten slowly and then try the on screen Write button.

The Avio will not be able to burn at 4X, but should be able to burn at 1X on the 4X DVD-RW disk.

Also, what model burner is in the unit (Arabesk, Settings to check) and do you have the most updated DVD firmware flashed to the unit?
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Series II Casablanca seem to be a little picky with -RW disks. I have a trusty Maxell 2X which always works in any machine, but a TDK 4X prefers older DVD burners despite installing the latest firmware. We have also had reports from customers with various brand names experiencing problems.
