adjustments in envelope window
I have finally figured out how to adjust levels in the envelope window, but want to move the timeline forward while in that window, or to go out, pick a new scene, and adjust audio in that scene, but the timeline in the window won't move. How do you move forward to another portion of a project to adjust levels?

Hi Jim
You have to copy the audio from that scene (copy scene -sample in Special menu) and mute the origional audio and put that sample on one of the audio tracks. You can not move the audio that is locked in the first audio track it belongs to the visual footage. Please use the range button to move the additional track were ever you want.

Jim, when your in the envelope window, you are seeing the audio for the one scene that you selected. You cant advance to another scene while in the envelope window. Just press "create" to render your audio once your done, then click on "ok" to exit the envelope window. Now simply select the next scene on your story board that you want to adjust the audio on, like you did with your first one.

Re: adjustments in envelope window
Ok, Chris, that makes sense. I wasn't hitting "create" while in the envelope window, but somehow was getting the effect I wanted. Anyway, what I was referring to was it seeming like I was not moving along on the time line of the whole project. I guess the timeline in the envelope window is for that particular scene, right? I've got some ambient audio that I don't really need when the music is running, but want to have up as the music is fading down. Will try that out. Thanks for your help. I wasn't trying to copy audio out of a scene, really, just try to move around to another part of the project while in a particular scene's window. Now I see I can't do that, but that's ok.

Re: adjustments in envelope window
Hello,
Because we have six audio tracks, you can control all six of them independently using an envelope for each. As with all work on the Cassie, you must select the scene that you want to control. So you may use an envelope to cut out some of the ambient sound that you want to get rid of that is in the camera track. Click on the camera track to select it. Now you can have it muted during the time that you want your music track to be dominant and bring it up only when you want the camera track's audio to be heard. In general, I have found that the camera track is way too loud most of the time anyway, and needs to be cut down at least 3 to 5 Dbs.
Each of the audio tracks is represented by a line in the top blue window and you will see evidence of each added piece of music and or narration showing up there as well. So if you had added five pieces of sound effects, music, narration etc, to the scene along with the camera track.......all playing at the same time....you would see a representaion of those pieces all stacked up under your selected video scene.
Also if you look very closely, you can see how many video scenes there are above your audio tracks. In general the one that is lit up is the scene that is in your video work window.
Good luck with your audio work and keep up asking.....that's how we all learned.

Re: adjustments in envelope window
Jim, that's what I learned from playing around with all this. I ended up muting the ambient track altogether during the music, letting it up at the end, so it would make a good transition when I faded the music out. It worked very nicely. I remember the need to hit the space under the scene to highlight it so Cassie would know which scene I was playing with at the moment. That was something on the original tutorial DVD, as I recall. There are just TOO many things to keep in mind to do, too many creative choices. I make sure the most important details are covered, and leave the rest to default positions.
