OS 8 H key

I frequently (with past OS's) use the H key while viewing the SB to stop play on the current scene being played. If I just hit esc or stop, it reverts as usual to the scene where I started play. Now, in OS 8, whenever I use the H key during play, it reverts to some very early scene in the SB. It is usually the third or fourth scene. Where I start play in the SB does not matter. It may have been the 26th or 126th (or any other) scene, but it still reverts to the 3rd or 4th scene (or another early scene - it is not consistent).
Is this is a known issue? I wouldn't think there would be any setting for this. I have not noticed any other glitches with Power Key.
I have had one other problem with OS 8. While playing the SB in the Range mode (so I can see the scene numbers during play back), every so often I see a split second flash, and if you happen to be watching very carefully, you can just barely see the "red box of death" ! Then in a few seconds, the system shuts down and reboots. The timing of these shut downs is inconsistent. Sometimes I can go for an hour or more without it happening. It does not happen very often. The HD is about 70% full.
Thanks.

Keith,
As I am using the much maligned (and very justifiably so
) S4P I do not use Smart Edit any longer, but I believe that is a known issue that was fixed with the most current version of SE8.

Well, that (8.1) fixed
that problem, but now...
While playing either the SB or a scene, when I move the counter bar to either the upper or lower (opposite of current) position, it leaves an opaque gray rectangle where the counter bar was!?
I can move the bar back and it covers the gray rectangle. If I leave the bar in the new position, stop play and then play again, the bar remains in the new position and the gray rectangle is gone. I have tried moving the "infomation" bar up and down in other modes and they all seem to be OK. It is just the counter bar as described above. 8.1 problem? My individual problem? Since the gray will disappear after stopping and restarting play, one can work around it, but it adds a step (and time).
Have you ever thought about how you would spend the other half of your life if you didn't have to upgrade, download, trouble shoot etc. all of your electronics? What would we do with all of that time?

I have 4 drives with 8.1. Never have this problem.
.Try an UPDATE
.If that doe not work, then try another FULL INSTALL
.If there is still a problem, RE-BURN another copy of 8.1 as it is NOT uncommon for a bad burn to corrupt something in my experience.

Thanks Lou. Glad to hear that it is not an 8.1 problem. I will burn another cd and re-install. A full install is out of the question until this long project is done.
Having the full image back up on the SOL internal hard drive is comforting when doing any OS insatllation.
