System Failure

Prestige have stopped opening any of my hard drives, I have 3 hard drives and all have work on them, but this morning inserted drive 1 and it opened up the Main Menu but then shows the hour glass working continuously and will go no further, Switched off machine at wall. Then selected drive 2 and tried to open and that one got as far as selecting a project and then the same as drive 1 only showed the hour glass and went no further, so switched off at wall again and inserted drive 3 and this time will not reach Main Menu but shows SmartMedia card on left and on right 524288 and again will go no further. This has now rendered my Prestige inoperable, why should this affect all drives? is it a system problem and is there any cure? would be most appreciable for any advice please.

Seeing as it is affecting all drives I would say it is obviously hardware versus software related.

The symptom of the SM Card icon and six digit numerical is one I use to see regarding ram recognition issues on my old Avio long ago.

Perhaps your ram has given up the ghost for some reason.

The good news is ram is about the cheapest thing to replace and also one of the easiest.

I would contact Martyn directly as he is likely to know what is the proper compatible ram for the older Prestige and perhaps even have it in stock.

I am not saying it definitely is the ram as there are many other parts such as the motherboard that could be going, but the ram as mentioned is the likeliest culprit and certainly the least expensive thing to try first regarding hardware replacement/repair.

This happen to me as well with my Prestige, and i did exactly what Tim is describing and for me it worked perfectly!
My Prestige has been solid ever since. I also found that if your unit is too cold the same thing can happen.

Thanks Gents for your input, Martyn also suggested that possible solution and is sending new RAM so we will give it a go.
